Muslim Family Services of Colorado
Description:
Muslim Family Services was founded in 1997 by the efforts and dedication of a group of Muslims who were committed to respond to the social and legal issues facing the diverse and growing Muslim community in Colorado. MFS’ mission is to help empower individuals and families to be safe, secure and self-reliant through education and victim advocacy. MFS is an advocate for underserved communities and helps individuals access services for victims of crime. MFS offers confidential counseling to victims of domestic violence and other crimes. We also offer referrals to appropriate victim services organizations for a variety of needs which the client may be eligible for, including refugee services, counseling, food banks, shelters, clothing suppliers and/or offering bus tokens. MFS provides services while honoring Islamic principles. MFS is the leader of cultural competency in dealing with Muslims and the African American community. We are the standard bearers of these competencies, not only because of our extensive education, training and certification, but also because our staff and governing body is composed of Muslims. We provide services based upon first-hand knowledge of the Muslim community, our familial, societal, religious and cultural foundations. There are no other private or state agencies more qualified than Muslim Family Services to offer counseling and services to Muslim victims of domestic violence and other crimes.
